Chubb Fire Selected to Provide Alarms to Spirit Group

LONDON, UK, June 1, 2007 - Chubb Fire has been awarded a contract to install fire alarms at 616 new sites for Spirit Group, the managed division of Punch Taverns, the UK’s leading Pub Company with over 8,400 pubs nationwide. Chubb Fire is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Following its takeover of Scottish and Newcastle Retail Ltd, which brought Spirit Group’s number of sites to 1100, the company underwent a rationalisation of suppliers.  Due to a shared ethos of customer service and delivery, Spirit Group chose to implement Chubb’s fire safety products across all of its sites.

Catherine Lund, Commodity Manager, Supplies and Services, at the Spirit Group explains: “Following the purchase of the Scottish and Newcastle estate, we became aware that they had a mixture of suppliers and so we were keen to consolidate them in order to decrease supply chain numbers, reduce costs and improve service to the pubs.

“Chubb is a partner for Spirit, and its customer service and support to our business has been consistent since the start. Spirit's Risk Management team are very happy with the level of service provided and reassured that our business is protected through the contracts.”

Spirit Group has a standard specification for fire alarm and fire extinguisher equipment, which Chubb adheres to.

Suzanne Donovan, Marketing and Communications Director of Chubb Fire, comments: “We are very established in the leisure and hospitality industry. We are delighted to be working for the Spirit Group and look forward to the relationship developing as time goes on.”

Chubb Fire is an acknowledged specialist in all areas of fire safety, from systems installation and maintenance through to fire risk assessment and training. Most recently it launched a new Prospectus to help make life easier for businesses looking to understand their current and future fire responsibilities.

The prospectus clarifies the regulatory reforms, and the Fire Safety Order (FSO), which came into effect in 2006, consolidating over 100 pieces of fire legislation. Since every business has to carry out a fire risk assessment and take a proactive approach to minimise the risk and spread of fire, the document highlights the numerous solutions available to business to meet these requirements.

Chubb Fire provides fire safety products and services which help organisations to prevent, detect, contain and escape fire. Operating out of a national network of local branches in the UK, Chubb has more than 100 years experience in the fire and security industry with over 8000 employees in the UK.  Chubb is part of UTC Fire and Security, a $4.7 billion business providing fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers worldwide and is headquartered in Connecticut, U.S. For more information about Chubb visit www.chubb.co.uk or www.utcfireandsecurity.com
