Lenel Delivers Security Innovations Using Microsoft .NET 3.0

ROCHESTER, NY, June 19, 2007 - Lenel recently announced that its innovative IdentityDefender identity management system will soon incorporate additional software to automate the steps associated with issuing secure IDs to employees.  The software, Microsoft’s .NET 3.0 Windows Workflow Foundation, will increase productivity and enhance processing accuracy.  Lenel, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Developed in response to recent government regulations such as FIPS 201 and HSPD-12, IdentityDefender is also ideal for broader commercial applications where access to buildings, computers and networks needs to be controlled and secured.  IdentityDefender is also capable of working seamlessly with a company’s pre-existing security solution, including enterprise wide access control solutions.

“Recent updates to Microsoft’s software enabled it to provide the intensive workflow support that IdentityDefender requires.  The addition of the new .NET 3.0 Windows Workflow will enhance IdentityDefender’s overall capabilities and usability,” said Michael Regelski, Chief Technology Officer for Lenel.

Lenel has worked closely with Microsoft since 2006 to review strategies and solution development opportunities, including a new Software as a Service (SaaS) delivery model, which will enable customers to receive software updates over the Internet.  The new model will target customers who want to streamline individual system services such as ID badge printing, and those who wish to outsource system management or administrative functions.

“Demands grow and evolve rapidly in the security marketplace, but customers can meet these challenges with high value solutions that combine Lenel’s depth of security experience with Microsoft’s platform innovation,” said Norm Thomas, Director of Business Development for Microsoft’s Professional Services Industry Solutions.  “We are very excited to be working closely with the Lenel team as they continue their focus on advancing security solutions for customers worldwide.”

Lenel introduced a technology roadmap outlining the company’s adoption of Microsoft .NET 3.0 at Paradigm 2007, the company’s annual technology symposium for independent security consultants and specifiers.
