Chubb China to Secure Ikea


SHANGHAI, October 2, 2007 – Chubb China was selected by IKEA, one of the world’s largest furniture retailers, to supply and install an electronic and physical security system for the company’s fifth store in Shenzhen, China, which is scheduled to open February 2008.  Chubb is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The contract calls for the installation of an access control system, CCTV, intrusion alarm system and commercial safes at the store’s storage facility and nearby offices. Chubb will also serve as the electric low voltage integration contractor for the project.

“This is a prestigious win that will enable us to broaden our customer portfolio in the retail market,” said John Xiao, Managing Director for Chubb China.

IKEA first entered China in 1998 with the opening of its Shanghai store.  The company has since expanded quickly and now has more than a dozen locations throughout China.  To keep pace with the rising demand, the chain is planning to add two more stores in China annually.
