Chubb Canada Secures Major Canadian Port

FARMINGTON, Conn., November 20, 2007 - Chubb Canada was recently awarded a major contract by the Saint John Port Authority to install a comprehensive security system to help secure the more than 25 million metric tons of cargo that pass through the Port each year.  Located in New Brunswick, the Port of Saint John is the largest seaport in the Province and is recognized for its strategic importance to Canada’s trade and economy.  Chubb Canada is part of UTC Fire & Security, which is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The new contract calls for the installation of an IP based command and control software system, provided by 360 Surveillance Systems, which will serve as the video backbone for the more than 30 outdoor and thermal cameras.  The system’s video transmission will be performed using both fiber optic cables and wireless signals.

Chubb will also integrate a Lenel Access Control system to manage the operation of the facility’s gates, intercoms and credentialing equipment.

“Chubb has proven experience at other large scale projects such as the Halifax Port Authority and Halifax International Airport Authority,” said Michael Castellani, Regional Sales and Operations Manager, Chubb Canada.  “We also bring the strength of our technical team’s expertise with IP video solutions and their knowledge and understanding of Lenel components.”

As the project’s main integrator Chubb will also manage updates and increases to the facility’s lighting, roadwork modifications and the creation of a command and control center to monitor the Port’s activities.
