HONG KONG, December 11, 2007 – Guardforce recently provided a team of 20 elite Gurkha security personnel to help secure this year’s Hong Kong Golf Open, which was held at the Fanling Golf Course.  The Hong Kong Golf Open is one of the most prestigious golf tournaments in Asia, attracting more than 31,000 attendees and 11 of the world’s top golfers.  Guardforce is part of UTC Fire & Security, which is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

This is the fourth year that the event organizers have selected Guardforce for security personnel services to the Hong Kong Golf Open.  Over the course of the five day event, the Gurkhas were responsible for protecting the VIPs in attendance and ensuring the safety of patrons.   

“The Gurkhas’ specialist training equips them with the skills and knowledge to handle almost any situation,” said Douglas Renwick, General Manager, Guardforce Security Personnel Division.  “Many of our Gurkha personnel have also served in the British or Indian army.”

Guardforce has assigned more than 180 Gurkha personnel to protect a number of prestigious establishments in Hong Kong including; the Saudi Arabia Embassy, Hong Kong Bank Note Printing, and luxury residential estates such as Baguio Villa, the American Club and others.
