FARMINGTON, Conn., December 21, 2007 – UTC Fire & Security announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire the FireX Safety Division of Invensys plc for cash consideration of $44 million, subject to customary closing conditions.  UTC Fire & Security is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

The FireX Safety Division manufactures and sells residential smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and generated sales of $80million in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2007.
