Onity to Provide Increased Efficiency and Accuracy through New Partnership

ATLANTA, May 6, 2008 – Onity and StarRez have partnered to develop a custom interface that enables StarRez’s housing system to seamlessly integrate with Onity’s Integra electronic locking solution.  The new interface will enhance data accuracy and create administrative efficiencies for Onity’s higher-education clients.  StarRez is a world leader in housing and conference software with more than 250 clients worldwide. Onity, one of the world’s leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Traditional systems require college and university staff to manually input data, such as student names and room assignments, from one system into another, creating greater possibilities for data inaccuracies. The new interface will send key housing information from the StarRez system directly to Onity’s Integra system.

Features of the StarRez software include online applications, room selection and administrative functions such as billing, reporting, e-mail and mail merge.

“This interface will save time for system administrators, students, and staff – it also integrates key components of a college or university’s back-end infrastructure,” said Tom O’Connell, Onity’s manager of commercial sales.  “The partnership between Onity and StarRez is a natural fit, given the synergy between the products and services we both provide to our customers.”

“People in higher education are being asked to do more today than ever before,” said Joe Lindwall, vice president of sales and marketing for StarRez. ”Time, energy and ease are extremely valuable to them. This integrated solution will make day to day operations easier by saving time and increasing data accuracy.”

The new system will also help college and university back-end systems to operate in real-time, according to Terri Gray, Onity’s marketing manager for North America.

“If a student is expelled from school for a major infraction, that information is updated in the StarRez system, which then immediately tells Onity’s system to shut down the expelled student’s access to school facilities,” Gray says. “It becomes a one-step process for clients with more immediate, more secure results for colleges and universities.”
