Chubb Sécurité Protects New Hospital in France

PARIS, July 8, 2008 - Chubb Sécurité recently completed a four-year project to equip the North Hospital of Marseille, France with a comprehensive fire detection and alarm system.  Chubb Sécurité is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Built in 1964, the 800-bed North Hospital of Marseille is the leading hospital and employer in the region, with a staff of about 2,330.  After more than 40 years of service to the community, the hospital’s fire detection system required renovation and a call for tender was held in 2004. Chubb Sécurité was awarded the project based on the strength of its product offering, its technical expertise and its experience in the hospital sector.

This large-scale project includes the installation of a complete detection and suppression system, including fire detectors and fire suppression panels, 2,600 detectors, 180 satellites and a supervision system to ensure optimal protection.

“Public hospitals in particular represent a significant challenge for suppliers due to their size and installation requirements, which call for zero tolerance of interference with daily activities,” said Pierre-Yves Mouzet, Director of the Chubb Agency in Aix-en-Provence France. “Chubb’s knowledge and understanding of complex projects uniquely position us as a product and services provider of choice to both hospitals and other healthcare facilities.”

Chubb Sécurité is part of UTC Fire & Security, which provides fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers around the world. Headquartered in Connecticut, U.S., UTC Fire & Security is a business unit of United Technologies Corp., which provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries worldwide.
