Kidde Showcases Advanced FIRETRAINER® Technology in Beijing

BEIJING, December 10, 2009 - Kidde Fire Trainers, Inc. recently showcased its advanced fire training technology, FIRETRAINER®, at the U.S.-China Advanced Firefighter Training Technology Workshop held in Beijing, China. More than 100 industry professionals were shown the broad range of fire training solutions that Kidde provides through its state-of-the-art live training simulators. Kidde Fire Trainers is a part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

With more than 30 years of live fire training knowledge, Kidde Fire Trainers provides live fire training simulators that deliver intense fire training. FIRETRAINER® systems realistically replicate the heat, smoke, flames and chaos of a real fire emergency, in a safe, controlled and environmentally sound manner. The industry-leading technology has minimal environmental impact and helps address community and legislative concerns regarding air pollution and water contamination.

“Kidde’s safety record is not only reassuring, but compelling,” said Steve Williamson, Director of Engineering, Kidde Fire Trainers. “Users of FIRETRAINER® systems have safely conducted more than three million training evolutions in the past 30 years. It’s our pleasure to introduce this technology to our peers in China.”

At the workshop, Kidde senior trainers demonstrated how the patented technology can help prepare firefighters to face various fire scenarios. The trainers also highlighted Kidde’s unmatched support, which starts with a Kidde team member working to define the right training solution that best meets the customer’s needs and budget. Once a training system is installed, Kidde’s expert customer service team provides real-time support to ensure reliable, consistent and recordable training results.

Danny Fu, GM of China Fire, UTC Fire & Security, reiterated the company’s commitment to introducing the leading technology to China’s fire safety industry. “UTC has a tradition of innovation and technology. We are obligated to provide advanced safety solutions to our customers and community in China,” said Mr. Fu. “This workshop was a good beginning. We hope to bring Kidde’s fire training expertise to China’s major fire protection training centers in the near future.”

Jointly organized by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), the Advanced Firefighter Training Technology Workshop was a fire safety exchange program between the U.S. and China.
